Turbowheel Dart (Zero 9) Electric scooter review

By Jeffrey the Barak. My fifth electric scooter, a Turbowheel Dart, is so far proving to have been a very good choice. The “Turbowheel Dart” is mostly the same as the “Falcon PEV Zero 9” and also the “Sonic 600w 48V”. Once an extremely rare and eccentric choice, an electric scooter today is something that… Read More Turbowheel Dart (Zero 9) Electric scooter review

Nice write up – I think I had the exact same thought process as you and reached the same conclusion for the same reasons. I’m still a little concerned about bottoming out the shocks on the zero 9. Do you bottom them out? What is your weight?

I’m still on the lookout for anyone with a mod for these shocks to stiffen them up.

No bottoming out here. I weigh 160 lbs / 73 KG. And I jump a little to lighten the gross weight over speed bumps etc., which means I probably land at close to double my weight, and there are no bottoming out issues due to suspension/shocks. However, with a low ground clearance and 8.5″ tires, you have to have the forethought to choose to not try to get up certain obstacles. With awareness of the tire size and ground clearance, it is safe. I would not want to stiffen the shocks as I enjoy the glide. If you weigh much more than me you might have a different experience.

How does the dolly function work? You collapse it and roll it on those little wheels, what do you grab on the other end? Do the handle bars lock enough to wheelbarrow it like a es2?

Cain, Instead of making it as compact as possible, you can fold out the grips and raise the handlebars a little and pull it along with those, with one hand in the center. It works well except people tend to cut behind you and try to trip themselves up on the scooter so you need to be aware of what is going on behind you.

To order a Zero 9, the wait time is approx 2 months (Sept order, Nov delivery). What is the order time (if you know) for the Turbowheel Dart and is the the same price?

Mine was shipped immediately. It is basically the same besides the name and the brand of batteries.

Hi, could you take a picture to show how are the trolley wheels installed? I have the same trolley wheels but I have no idea how to install them. Many thanks!

I am changing my answer from earlier. The climb is 1614 feet at <10% gradient and the distance up is less than 5 miles. I think you could do it, and of course coming down is easy.

Yah your point about choosing the right model .. scooter buying is full of tradeoffs – just pick a scooter that fits your use case best – you’re gonna be choosing between power/comfort versus weight/portability. I was tempted by the Zero 9, but I decided to go with the Levy Plus .. fewer bells and whistles but it’s also ten pounds lighter and $400 cheaper

That looks good. I bought the Dart/9 to go fast but then I decided to quit going fast. I am enjoying it much more at around 14 MPH.

buying a zero 9 scooter from smartwheel.ca is a rip off
first the regular tires are so cheap you will get flat tires non stop
second if you buy honeycomg tires to replace your shitty tires, with shipping it will cost you over 130.00 cad.
same tires from Alibaba with delivery $50.00 cad

    I mean really…
